My People: You know that when anything horrendous happens, We quietly hold our breath and say, "Please, not one of Us." But this time two of Us have committed a heinous act, one that surely deserves to be labeled and prosecuted as a hate crime.

To his killers, three stupid, stupid boys: I know the deck was stacked against you, black and white, you're nobody from nowhere and you were screwed before you started. Your elected officials in Congress are working to make sure you and yours stay right where you are, and that you have unlimited access to guns to play out your frustrations.
But you have ruined your lives by your own actions and you're taking dozens down with you. You deserve to pay for what you did, and to that, my heart is hard and cold.
But, Folks, I'm as troubled by the crime as I am by Our collective silence. Justice! Equality! Can't We at least acknowledge that it happened?
